About Currencycloud

ValutaPartners provides its customers with a currency brokerage service, but collaborates with Currencycloud.

Currencycloud is an online platform that provides financial services to companies that want to make international payments. The platform enables businesses to convert currencies, transfer money, and receive payments in different currencies around the world.

The goal of Currencycloud is to make cross-border payments easier and more efficient for businesses. The platform offers a range of features and tools to help businesses manage their international payments, including real-time currency exchange rates, automated payments, and reporting on payment activities.

Currencycloud's innovative solutions

Currencycloud partners with a wide range of companies including fintech firms, banks, payment providers, and e-commerce companies such as Revolut, Standard Bank, Starling bank, and Bunq. The platform is designed to be flexible and scalable, so that it can be customized to the specific needs of different businesses and industries.

Currencycloud provides an innovative solution for businesses that need to make international payments, making it easier to conduct business in a globalized economy.

Currencycloud was founded in 2012 in the United Kingdom and is now led by Mike Laven and his team. The company aims to simplify and modernize the process of international payments, particularly for small and medium-sized businesses.

In 2015, Currencycloud received an investment of $18 million from a group of investors led by Sapphire Ventures. This provided the company with the resources to further grow and expand its services.

Currencycloud has expanded its presence in the United States, Europe, and Asia since then, and has formed partnerships with major players in the fintech industry and traditional banking. In the Netherlands, the technology of Currencycloud is used by Bunq.

In 2016, Currencycloud entered into a whitelabel partnership with ValutaPartners, co-founded by Michiel Souren. With ValutaPartners, Dutch businesses gained access to Currencycloud's platform, competitive and transparent exchange rates, and fast international payments.

Companies that want to convert at competitive exchange rates and make fast international payments through the Currencycloud platform can only do so through a white-label partnership. ValutaPartners is the only company in the Netherlands that offers this service.

In 2017, Currencycloud received a $25 million investment from investors including Google Ventures. This funding was used to finance the growth and global expansion of the company.

At the end of 2021, Currencycloud was acquired by Visa for $962 million. This acquisition has greatly strengthened Currencycloud's position and allowed it to invest even more in the development of its products and services.

Indeed, since its founding in 2012, Currencycloud has played a significant role in transforming the world of international payments and is expected to continue to grow and innovate in the future.
